He works on the Marathwada Dragonfly Mapping Project. An occassional carnivore, Shravan is a super but silent field-worker. |
Ameya Deshpande | Research Assistant
Ameya is passionate about wildlife documentation. After his bachelors, he completed a certificate course in photojournalism. He works on the Marathwada Dragonfly Mapping Project. He is a great field-worker, photographer, and can not live without Irani Chai! |
Nikhil Joshi | Research Assistant
Nikhil is a trained entomologist interested in bugs. He has worked with ATREE on edible insects of Northeast India. He works on the Bird Nest Project and helps us manage the lab and its activities. Nikhil is enthusiastic on many fronts and wants to pursue a career in research. |
Dolsy David | MSc Dissertation Student
Kanjiraparambil Dolsy David, is a 1st year M.Sc (biodiversity) student studying at Abasaheb Garware College, Pune. She is interested in ecological studies owing to sustainability. More of a field person, Dolsy likes documenting wildlife, asking critical questions, and understanding things with bigger perspectives. Her M.Sc. thesis topic is on the railway ecology, where she will try and understand wildlife - railway mortality, plastic pollution and its effects on plants and birds. |
Vaidehi Gujarathi | M.Arch. Dissertation Student
Vaidehi is an architect currently pursuing her masters in landscape architecture from Dr Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture (BNCA). For her masters dissertation topic she is working on habitat restoration and landscape ecology of an area nested in urban land-use. She uses change detection analysis and concepts of urban ecology to create suitable habitat for aesthetically less attractive uncommon species of urban-scape. |
Madhur Rathi | BTech Student
Madhur is B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering student of MIT CoE. He is a good birder and takes interest in outreach activities. He is the founder member of Birding Engineers (BirdE) group of MIT-WPU. He is actively involved as a coordinator in the Pune Bird Atlas Project. |
Archita Londhe | Intern
Archita is studying BSc Environmental Science from Fergusson College, Pune. She is interested in the behavioral ecology of insects and currently involved in the Pune Dragonfly Mapping Project with us. She is self-motivated and can work in field observing Odonata behavior for long hours. Observing odonates, for her, is like drawing a beautiful painting. Archita is one of our powerpuff girls, tracking dragonflies throughout the Pune City. |
Sakshi Chakave | Intern
Sakshi is an integrated MSc student of Institute of Bioinformatics & Biotechnology (IBB), Pune. She is fascinated by dragonflies and currently working with us on the Pune Dragonfly Mapping Project. She is one of our powerpuff girls and also the chariot for Archita, tracking dragonflies throughout the Pune City. |
Priyank Kapdi | Visiting Student
Priyank is studying MSc Zoology from Bhavnagar University, Gujarat. He is currently working on odonates for his masters thesis. He gets time-to-time help from us and he is also interested in contributing towards Odonata research. We do not get to see him much, that's why a blurred image :-) |
Shrikant Gund | Collaborator
A doctoral student at University of Helsinki, Finland, Shrikant is working on bryophytes of North Western Ghats. He also works with Tree Public Foundation as a Field Officer. He has done extensive and successful habitat restoration in many places within the Pune City. He helps us in several projects in various ways. He is also the most reliable botanist we have in the group. He is always ready for moss or non-moss field-trips! |
Dr Prosenjit Dawn | Collaborator
Prosenjit is associated with us since 2014. He is a great mentor and highly resourceful. He has conducted several research and outreach programs in collaboration. His PhD was on Odonates of Chhattisgarh for which he worked with Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Kolkata. He works as an Assistant Professor at Shyampur Siddheaswari Mahavidyalaya, Ajodhya, West Bengal. Given Fish Fry Rice, he can work long hours in field without complaint! |
Neha Mujumdar | Collaborator
Neha is all-round worker helping us in Odonata research and outreach. A moth-girl converted to Dragonfolk, Neha is an active admin of DragonflySouthAsia. She works with Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), Mumbai. She works on various biodiversity assessment projects and curate Odonata section in their BNHS Collection department. |
Dr Arasumani M. | Collaborator
Arasu is a postdoctoral fellow at IISER Tirupati Skyisland Lab. He is interested in the application of advanced remote sensing in conservation. He uses multispectral, hyperspectral, microwave, and LiDAR remote sensing techniques for natural habitat conservation and invasive species management. He helps us in several projects that require RS-GIS expertise. He is presently co-supervising Dolsy in the railway ecology project. |
Dr Barbara Ingrid Kohl | Collaborator
Ingrid is passionate about owl conservation. She is actively involved in owl research and conservation through REWILD, Austria. She helps us getting our owl facts right and also collaborating with a conservation career project. In her recent visit to India, she fell in love with the holy land. She is now looking for an opportunity to visit the country soon. |
Arjit Jere | Alumnus
Arjit is interested in behavioral ecology. He completed masters program in biodiversity in 2016. For his masters project he worked on nest site selection of antlion larvae with NCBS. He later assisted Apeksha in the Pune Odonata Project. He is currently looking for PhD options abroad. He occasionally accompanies Dolsy to field visits for railway ecology project. He will soon join the Skyisland Lab as a research assistant. Arjit is always loaded with loaded questions! |
Apeksha Darshetkar | Alumnus
Apeksha has completed graduation in Microbiology from Modern college, Ganeshkhind, Pune and Post graduation in Biodiversity from Garware college, Pune. For her masters thesis, She worked on odonate species turnover across a tropical urbanization gradient. She sampled adult odonates across Mula River in Pune City. Her work was partially funded by International Dragonfly Fund (Germany) and Crowd-funding (India). Her findings were published in International Dragonfly Fund - Report. Presently she works with Centre for Wildlife Studies (CWS) as an educator on WildShaale project. |
